Tour Itinerary

DAY 1: PARO TO THIMPHU
Your 8 Day Enter the Dragon adventure starts as you land at the Paro airport, and are greeted by your guide. We then head to the capital city of Thimphu, but before we arrive we enjoy our first temple for the tour, with a quick stop at the gorgeous Tachhog Lhakhang temple. Back on the road we continue onto the buzzing capital, which offers a beautiful mix of traditional and modern cultures, here you can enjoy exploring its fresh food markets, the craft bazaar, the Tango Monastery on the hills and more. 

DAY 2: THIMPHU
Feel like a local, as we dress in traditional Bhutanese clothes and spend the day exploring Thimphu. Enjoy spectacular valley views as we hike to the Kuenselcholing viewpoint, before returning to Thimphu.  We then explore the Memorial Chorten built in honour of the third King, who made Bhutan what it is today. We then visit the Tashichho Dzong, home of the throne and the King’s office. 

DAY 3: THIMPHU TO GANGTEY
We leave the city behind us and continue our journey to beautiful Gangtey.  Keep your eyes open and cameras handy as we pass through the Dochula path, boasting stunning views of the Himalayas. Discover the Gangtey Monastery and explore the peaceful town of Phobjikha that sits below. Enjoy spending the night  in beautiful  Gangtey. 

DAY 4: GANGTEY TO PUNAKHA-WANGDUE
We take advantage of the fresh morning air, and enjoy a morning hike along the Gangtey nature trail.  This unique nature trail passes by monasteries, villages, wildlife, and green pastures.  The hike continues as we hike up the Chimi Lhakhang, or the fertility temple, finally arriving at the Punakha-Wangdue valley, where we enjoy a well-earned rest and spend the night. 

DAY 5: PUNAKHA
After a day of hiking, today we dedicate our time exploring all the small details of the Punakha Dzong, or fortress.  This amazing fortress is built between two beautiful rivers, and was once the Seat of the King. We then visit the Punakha Nunnery, where you will be blown away by its impressive architectural complex.  Keep your cameras handy as we visit the houses piled on the hills in Rinchengang Village. Ease into the night, with a leisurely evening stroll around Punakha town. 

DAY 6: PUNAKHA TO PARO
This morning we visit one of the oldest and most sacred monasteries in Bhutan with a visit to the Kichu Lhakhang monastery.  We then return to Paro and visit the Tshendhen Insense factory and visit the Ta Dzong watch tower.  The watch tower was originally used to protect against Tibetan invaders but is now used as a national museum. Enjoy an evening stroll through Paro meeting locals as you discover Paro. 

DAY 7: PARO
Today we hike to Bhutan’s most iconic landmark, the Taktshang Monastery also known as Tiger’s Nest.  You will be amazed by traditional architecture here, with the monastery made famous for being at the edge of a steep mountain, it truly is beautiful. We then immerse ourselves in Bhutanse culture and learn authentic Bhutanses traditions, as we enjoy a local farm stay for the night. 

DAY 8: DEPARTURE
Enjoy Bhutanese hospitality, with a fresh breakfast at the farmhouse before sadly farewelling this stunning country.   After breakfast you will be taken to the airport and your guide with help you through all the necessary formalities before you head off onto your next adventure.
