Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Paro

On arrival into Bhutan, transfer to your Paro hotel and settle in.   Your 10 Day Wonders of Bhutan adventure really kicks off as we enjoy a welcome dinner with the group before visiting Rimpung Dzong, a school for monks, and take enjoy a leisurely stroll with an orientation walk in the town. (D)

Day 2 Paro/Punākha

Today we enjoy the scenic drive to Punakha.   Keep your cameras handy as we cross the spectacular Dochula Pass, boasting stunning views of the Himalayas through flickering prayer flags. Spend the night in the beautiful Punakha.  (B,L,D)

Day 3 Punākha

Today pull on your hiking boots as we have a full day of exploration including a visit to Punakha Dzong, and stunning hikes to Chime Lhakhang and Wangdue Phodrang.  After a delicious lunch, we hike through rice terraces and forests to the mesmerising Khamsum Yueley Chorten. (B,L,D)

Day 4 Punākha/Gangtey Gonpa

This morning we wave goodbye to Punakha and travel to Gangtey.   We stop along the way to visit the village of Khewa.  Get a better understanding of the locals lifestyles and traditions as we visit a local family's farm for a cooking demonstration and home cooked dinner this evening. (B,L,D)

Day 5 Gangtey Gonpa

Enjoy walking to the monastery of Gangtey Goempa, known to hold the most sacred relics in Bhutan. We then visit a community school before walking across the stunning Phobjikha Valley to Khewa Valley.  Here we visit an old temple and make an offering.  Enjoy spending the night in Gangtey Gonpa. Day 6 Gangtey Gonpa/Thimphu

Today we head to Bhutan’s capital city Thimphu where we enjoy some more sightseeing, including a visit the National Library and Memorial Chorten.   We then head to the Institute for Zorig Chusum, an arts and crafts school where we can watch students practicing traditional arts such as woodworking, painting, and ceramics. Feel humbled as we meet with a Buddhist monk and scholar to discuss Buddhist beliefs and way of life, as well as values in Bhutan. This is an opportunity of a lifetime.  (B,L,D)

Day 7 Thimphu/Haa Dzongkhag

Leaving Thimpu we drive to the Haa Valley, one of the most remote and sacred valleys in Bhutan, enjoying the  Chelela Pass along the way.   We make a stop to hike to Kila Goempa Nunnery, which clings to a rocky cliff. Continuing our journey we drive to the valley and visit Lhakhang Nagpo (Black Temple), and Lhakhang Karpo (White Temple).  We spend the night in the Haa Valley. (B,L,D)

Day 8 Haa Dzongkhag/Paro (1B, 1L, 1D)

We make the return journey to Paro where we visit the ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong fortress. Enjoy the night in Paro.  (B,L,D)

Day 9 Paro

This morning we enjoy what is sure to be the highlight of your trip to Bhutan as we embark on a vigorous hike up to the Taktsang monastery (Tiger’s Nest), the most venerated pilgrim site of the Himalayan world.  This stunning monastery, offers spectacular views, even from a distance, with the monastery clinging to a cliff face towering 900 metres above the valley. We then visit Kyichu Lhakhang Temple and the local archery grounds before enjoying our last group dinner and night in Paro. (B,L,D)

Day 10 Paro

Enjoy your last breakfast with the group, farewell your new travel mates and get one last group shot before you head for the airport to begin the next leg of your adventure.  Your airport transfer included. (B)
